Q

How do you know who peer reviewed the article?

My assignment is asking if the article was peer reviewed by experts in the subject area. I know the article was peer reviewed because I selected that in the search option but I cannot find additional information. Thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated.

Answer

When a journal like the Journal of Consumer Marketing receives an article for publication, the editors of the journal send it out to other scholars in the same field to judge the article. An article which has been published in a peer-reviewed journal like this has been reviewed by peers of the author who are experts in the journal's subject area. It does not sound like your instructor wants to know exactly who reviewed the article, as long as it was definitely reviewed by experts in the field of study.

However, some journals will tell you in the front of the print copy what their peer-review process is before publication.  So if you can get a hold of the print copy, or possibly get to the journal's website, then you might be able to find more information.
