Answer

Scholarly information is:

  • Content that has been written by experts in the field which is being discussed.
  • Written by an author who has education and/or experience with research on the topic.
  • Targeted to be read by scholars, professionals or students in the field.
  • Cited always with the author's references or bibliography.

Peer-reviewed information is:

  • A type of scholarly information which has been reviewed by experts in the field under discussion.
  • Often a report of studies and experiments in the field.
  • Rarely found on websites.

Scholarly information is different from popular information because popular information may be written by anyone and is intended for the general public. Often popular information does not contain references.  It is the least reliable type of information.

To find scholarly information, visit the library's online databases page and select a category that has to do with your topic, then select a database from the list and use a few keywords to search for your topic. Most databases will let you limit your search to just scholarly articles.

You can also find scholarly information on the web, but be careful because most websites do not contain scholarly information. One way to find scholarly information online is to search using Google Scholar rather than a normal Google web search.
