Q. What time is it in Chicago?

Chicago, IL is in the Central Time Zone. To figure out what time it is in Chicago, you will need to know what time it is where you are and what time zone you are in. You can find out your time zone at The Time Now.

Once you know what time zone you are in, you either add or subtract hours based on the number of time zones between you and Chicago. For example, Los Anglelos, CA is in the Pacific time zone, which is two time zones to the west of Chicago. If you live to the west of a location then you will add hours onto your time to calculate the location's time. So if it is 8am in L.A., then it would be two hours earlier in Chicago, or 10am.

If you live to the east of a location, then you will subtract hours from your time to find the time at the location. For example, Detroit is in the Eastern time zone, which is one zone east of Chicago. So when it is 11am in Detroit, then it is one hour earlier, or 10am in Chicago.
