Q. I see overdue fines in my account, even after I have renewed the book online. Why did this happen?

Fines will start accruing as soon as the books become overdue until you renew it. If you renew your book, then book will be renewed from the date you do it but the fines will still be added for any days it was overdue before you renewed.

For example:

  1. Your book was due on Sep 27.
  2. You renew it on Sep 30-- this means it is already 2 days (28th and 29th) past the due date and fines are added for these two days.
  3. Renewal will go through (as long as no one else is waiting for the book).
  4. You get to keep the book for an additional loan period from Sep 30 and you will have a new due date, but your account will show fines for the 2 days before you renewed (28th and 29th).

It is to your advantage to renew the book on or before it is due. The system is set up to send you a reminder for due dates.
