Q. Are newspaper articles considered peer-reviewed?

No, newspaper articles are NOT considered peer-reviewed. They are often the opinions of the reporters and/or the publishers, rather than academic analysis or research.

Peer-review is a process where an article is reviewed by other professionals in that field and so it would be impossible for newspapers to to engage in this lengthy process as newspapers are published daily. Therefore, it is safe to assume that a newspaper article would not be peer-reviewed.

Try to locate the original sources - if any - listed (statistical and survey data, etc.) and this may be permitted in a research paper.

Check with the instructor or your Campus Library/ARC if you need further assistance with this.
