I have a document ID and would like to find the article. Can I search for an article using it's document ID?

Answer

Yes, all databases that assign a number to a document will have this option, usually in the Advanced Search mode. Open the Advanced Search option, type the Document Number in the search box, choose the proper index (Document ID in ProQuest, Accession Number in Gale, Accession Number in ERIC, ....) from the drop-down menu and search.

Examples:

  • ProQuest: 2252294561 Document ID
  • Gale: A248093506 in Document Number
  • ERIC: EJ909660 Accession Number

Use the number as given in the databases with the preceding letters: Ain Gale, and EJ or ED in ERIC.

Document Number search should also work from the Basic Search mode when you use the proper label. Check the Help feature in the databases to find details.
