Q. Where can I find information about a particular dog breed?

To find information about dog breeds:

  • To find books, start at the library's website, www.baker.edu/library, and click Find Books & E-Books.
    • First, try a search for the particular dog breed you are interested in.  You will get different results when using the plural or singular forms (pit bulls vs. pit bull) and similar terms (pit bulls vs. pit bull terriers).
    • If we don't have a book on the particular breed, or if you are interested in additional books, try a search for Dog Breeds or something like Dogs and Behavior.
    • You can start by limiting to your campus library, and if they do not have what you need, you can search All Baker Libraries and have books sent to your campus library by clicking Place Hold.
    • If you would like to browse books at your campus library, books about dogs are in call number section SF 421 to SF 440.
  • You may also want to consult some websites for information.  The American Kennel Club offers a great wealth of information online about dog breeds.

For additional assistance, please feel free to contact your Campus Librarians.  Thank you for using the ASK US service.
