Q. Why does it ask me for a Baker College library number when I am using the database at home?

Answer

The Baker library databases ask for a library card number (from your ID Card) to log in when off-campus because:

  • They need to verify that you are a student.
  • Students are entitled to have access to the resources contained in the databases.
  • The database providers limit access to their content to organizations who have paid for a subscription to the information.

When you are on campus, the databases recognize that you are logged in from a Baker College computer, so they know you are a student even though you do not have to enter your library card number.

To find your Library Number online:

  • Go to MyBaker
  • Login
  • Select Login Assistance

You will find your UIN, Equitrac (printing number) and Library number there.
