Q. How do you cite the same author, same journal article in different parts of the paper?

Answer

If you use a citation more than once:

  • It should appear the same.
  • No modifications need to be made to distinguish the subsequent citations.
  • They all refer to same resource on your References list.

An example of this is in the Sample Paper on the APA Help guide.  In the last paragraph on page 3 you will see a citation for Kanter (1968).  On page 6 you will see another reference to Kanter, 1968, without any additions made to the citation.
