Q. How do you set your second page, after title page, to have the header "running head" and every page after to be just the abbreviated title?

Answer

To set the Header in Microsoft Word:

1. Click on Insert at the top of the Microsoft Word.  Select Header.  Select Edit Header. (or double click at the top of the page)

2. Under the Header Design Toolbar, in the Options section, click the box for Different First Page so that you can still include the words Running head on the first page, but take them off all subsequent pages.

3.  If you want to set the Page Number, that option is there to the right of Header.

You can also visit APA help, and in the APA Tools box you will find the Assignment Template, which is a perfectly formatted APA paper- all you have to do is type over the existing text!
