Q. Can a quote be put in a conclusion?

To decide whether a quote will work well in your conclusion, consider these questions:

--Is the quote further evidence for your argument?

If so, then it might belong in the body of your paper.

--Is it an interesting and attention grabbing quote that you plan to use more for style than for evidence?

Perhaps it would be better suited to your introduction rather than your conclusion.

There is not a definitive yes or no answer, but neither the APA Help guide Sample Paper nor the Purdue Owl Sample Paper shows a quote in the conclusion.

To discuss the use of a specific quotation, make an appointment at the Writing Center or with a tutor.
