Q. What are the similarities and differences between the CARRDSS and BASIC forms?
CARRDSS and BASIC are both methods for evaluating sources you are thinking of using for your research projects.
After reading about the methods below, use your own critical thinking to figure out how they are similar and different.
C redibility: Who is the author? What are his/her credentials? Is he/she qualified to write on this topic?
A ccuracy: Can the information be verified? Is it grammatically correct? Are there any spelling errors?
R eliability: Does the source present a bias or particular point of view? Is the page associated with a reputable organization?
R elevance: Does the information support my hypothesis or answer my question?
D ate: when was this information created or last revised?
S ources: Are credible reliable sources used by the author?
S cope: Is the information comprehensive or too scholarly?
BASIC is designed to evaluate websites for:
- Authority (credibility)
- Bias (purpose)
