Q. How do you correctly respond to posts on the discussion board in Blackboard?

What is the difference between Reply and Quote?

Answer

Thank you for your question about responding to posts in Blackboard.

Once on the discussion board in Blackboard in a particular thread, you can will see something like this:

You will see a Reply button below a post.  You will have the option to Reply or Quote (the Edit and Delete functions are reserved for instructors only).

When you use the Reply button, it is important to copy and paste the message to which you are responding into the message box:

When you use the Quote button, the message will be included in your post automatically.  This is handy, as you will see as our discussions go on and the threads get longer, if you are having a conversation, the Quote button includes each and every reply so that the post itself gets longer:

Once you have entered your message into the text box, click the Submit button to add it to the Discussion Board.
