Q. Are newspaper archives available in the online library? I'm looking for some articles from the Detroit Free Press, but now sure where/how to search.

Answer

To find online issues of The Detroit Free Press, use the database Gannett Newsstand (ProQuest), which indexes The Detroit Free Press from 1999 to the present.  Click on Publications and then type in the newspaper you wish to search.

To get to the database, start at the Library homepage and click on News and Current EventsGannett Newsstand (ProQuest) will be there.

You will need your library card number to access the articles from off-campus. It is on your ID card and on the Login Assistance page in MyBaker.

If you need articles older than 1999, you may want to check with your public library.
