Q. How do I set up a thesis statement?
To learn how to set up a thesis statement and see examples, visit Purdue's Online Writing Lab.
A thesis statement is:
- Usually the last sentence in the first paragraph of your paper.
- A specific idea and it should cover only what you will discuss in your paper.
- Supported in the paper with specific evidence and examples.
- An arguable statement and not in the form of a question.
You may also want to visit the Writing Center or set up an appointment for tutoring on your campus to work on your paper.
