Q. How do I do a document citation with no page number?

Here's how to cite a reference that does not have a page number:

  • In APA, use a paragraph number if a page number is not available.
  • Furthermore, use a section heading (if available) and then include the paragraph number in that section.
  • Example:  Discussion section, para. 1--after listing the author and year in the text.
  • Or, give the author and year followed by a comma, then in quotations the name of the section heading.

(Flores, Hickenlooper, & Saxton, 2018, para. 5).

(Golan, Kuchler, & Krissof, 2018, “Mandatory Labeling of Food,” para. 4).

The References page does not include paragraph numbers.
