Q. How do you cite the same author same journal article in different parts of the manuscript?

I am citing the same author and same journal article in two different parts of the text. How do I number the citation? Do I give the second citation a different number?

If you use a citation more than once, it should appear the same--no modifications need to be made to distinguish the subsequent citations because they all refer to same resource on your References list.

An example of this is in the Sample Paper on the APA Help guide.  In the last paragraph on page 3 you will see a citation for Kanter (1968).  On page 6 you will see another reference to Kanter, 1968, without any additions made to the citation.
