Q. What is the correct APA formatting for an Anthology?

  • In the drop down menu for Books select Chapter or Essay in a Collection
  • The publication date should be copyright year of the anthology.


Essay Author Last name, Initial. (Year of Anthology). Essay read in the Anthology. In Author of Anthology, Title of Anthology in Italics (pp. of essay). Place where published: Publisher of Anthology.

Rachels, J. (2010). God and human attitudes. In B. N. Waller (Ed.), Consider ethics: Theory, readings, and contemporary issues (3rd ed., pp. 11-15). Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice Hall.

Paraphrase: (Rachels, 2010). Quotation: (Rachels, 2010, p. 13).

The publication date should be copyright year of the book the essay was found in.
